Loss Weight and Control Your Appetite with Satiety by Tony Anderson

Diet and health trends seem to come and go as often at the months of the years. However, the latest information and buzzword for controlling your appetite and managing your weight is called "satiety".

Satiety (pronounced "sa-tie-atee") is the buzzword for the feeling of being full after eating. In addition to the term "satiety" another buzz phrases is are rapidly gaining popularity. This phrase is "Foods with Fullness".

Similar to the term satiety, Foods with Fullness helps to describe the feeling of being full and satisfied after eating food. However, the latter phrase is more descriptive and easier to remember for most people when thinking about this concept.

So if you ever wondered why you more full after eating a baked potato then when you ate a croissant, the idea of foods with fullness become immediately apparent.

A Satisfying Experiment

In 1995, the results from a study conducted by an Australian researcher from the University of Sydney named Dr. Susanna Holt and her research partners was published. In the study, Dr. Holt ranked different foods using a "Satiety Index". This index ranked foods on their ability to satisfy hunger among the research volunteers. The Satiety Index is based at 240-calories portions of 38 different types of foods.

The baseline was 100 the food achieved for this was white bread. Thus, the research scores food of more than 100 more satisfying than the baseline, white bread, while below is less satisfying. After consumption, the volunteers reported to the researchers how hungry they felt. In addition, the volunteers were not allowed to eat anything additional for another 2 hours. Below are some of the results of the research:

Fruit ranked at the of top of index at 1.7 (170%). This means that as a group, fruit was 1.7 times more satisfying than white bread (baseline 100 or 100%) to the volunteers. In addition to fresh fruit, consider eating dried fruit such as dried cherries, dried apples, dried wild blueberries and dried strawberries achieve satiety. Many of my clients in my nutrition and fitness coaching practice have achieved the satiety by eating foods with fullness. One source for getting a wide selection of dried fruit delivered to your door is from Traverse Bay Farms www.traversebayfarms.com. This company even offers free shipping on 4lbs. of dried fruit. Croissants were about half as satisfying as baseline white bread. (47%)

Cheese ranked 1.46 (146%) more satisfying; eggs ranked 1.50 (150%); beef ranked 1.76 (176%); popcorn ranked 1.54 (154%); cake ranked .65 (65%); oatmeal ranked 2.09 (209%); doughnut ranked 68 (68%); boiled potatoes 3.23 (323%); French fries ranked 1.16 (116%).

An interesting find was that jelly beans also ranked well on the scale, but additional comments suggest the volunteers may have been "sugared out" by the jelly bean consumption. So the next time you visit the movies, enjoy some extra popcorn and skip the candy. Although, additional work is needed, we now have a starting point to determine which foods help to keep us satisfied longer or satiety. You will soon see food products being labeled and a new food category emerging called: Foods with Fullness.

These will be foods that help to keep you feeling fuller longer. So the next time you are looking turn off your appetite or manage your weight look to consume foods that rank high on the satiety scale or in other words eat "Foods with Fullness" - ability to keep you full.

Filipino Recipes for Meat Lovers by Carlo Villamayor

Ask any Filipino what his favorite viand is and you'll get a fairly small range of answers: adobo, sinigang, barbecue, roast beef. Filipinos are born meat lovers, and Filipino cuisine is naturally heavy in meat and meat-based dishes. Part of it is because livestock is one of our top industries. Sure, we have our vegetable soups and salads, but an everyday meal is rarely complete without a serving of meat.

But once in a while, we get tired of the same old meat dishes. Even the world's most passionate meat lover can't eat the same adobo recipe for a week. But that's the best thing about Filipino food: no two Filipino recipes are alike. Whether it's an extra pinch of salt or a whole new set of spices, you can always add your own personal touch to the old recipes and come up with something new. If your meat dishes could use a little boost, try these unique Filipino cooking recipes.

Tondo-Tondo

This dish is sort of a cross between steak and street food. It's perfect for street food lovers who like a little spin on their old favorites. You can eat it as a snack with a vinegar dip, or with rice for lunch or dinner.

Ingredients: ½ kg deboned chicken thighs, cubed ½ kg lean pork, cubed ¼ kg chicken liver, cubed ¼ kg chicken gizzards, cubed ½ c soy sauce 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce ½ c calamansi juice 1 head crushed garlic 1 tsp pepper

Procedure: Mix together the soy sauce, Worcestershire, calamansi juice, garlic, and pepper. Add the chicken, pork, liver and gizzards and marinate overnight. Skewer onto barbecue sticks. Grill or broil until the meats are cooked.

Linat-An

If you think you've tried every pork chop recipe in the book, wait till you try this one. Linat-an is native to northern Mindanao and uses gabi (taro root) and a variety of other vegetables. The main difference is that it's not fried, but boiled and stewed like other Filipino food recipes.

Ingredients: 6 lean pork chops 3 pcs taro root, quartered ¼ c tomatoes, sliced 2 c string beans, chopped into 2-inch pieces ¼ c green onions 1 tbsp sweet pepper, sliced 1 pc tanglad (lemon grass) 1 pc yerba buena 6 c rice washing 2 ½ tsp salt

Procedure: Boil pork chops in the rice washing for about 40 minutes or until very tender. Add the gabi and salt, then let cook for about 5 minutes. Stir in the tomatoes, herbs, and onions and let stand for another 3 minutes. Serve hot.

Oxtail Menudo

This one puts a unique twist in one of the most popular Filipino cooking recipes. The original recipe stays pretty much the same except for the oxtail. The oxtail adds a lot of flavor, creating a hearty dish perfect for parties and everyday dinners.

Ingredients: 1 kg oxtail 1 c tomato sauce 1 pc each red and green bell pepper, diced 1 c garbanzos, cooked 1 garlic head, chopped 1 onion, chopped 1 c chorizo bilbao, diced 2 tbsp butter

Procedure: Pressure-cook the oxtail for about 25 minutes, or simmer until tender. Take off the bone and chop into bite-size cubes. Set aside. In a saucepan or casserole, melt the butter and sauté the garlic until golden brown. Add the onions and stir-fry until transparent. Stir in the bell peppers and fry for about 2 minutes. Add the oxtail, chorizo, and tomato sauce; mix well. Lower the heat and let it simmer for 10 minutes. Stir in the garbanzos and season to taste with salt and pepper.

Duck Wine Stew

Who says stews are only for Sunday lunch? This unusual duck recipe is festive enough to serve at parties, but still has the homey feel of native Filipino recipes. The sweetness of the wine complements the rich, meaty flavor of the duck. If you're not a big fan of duck, you can also use chicken, turkey, or pork.

Ingredients: 1 whole duck, dressed and cut into serving pieces 2-3 c tuba or nipa wine ½ c soy sauce 1 c pineapple juice 1 c pineapple tidbits 1 c carrots, diced MSG and peppercorns to taste

Procedure: Combine the duck, wine, and juice in a casserole. Bring the liquids to a boil, then cover and lower the heat. Keep cooking until the duck meat becomes soft. Remove the cover and let it boil down until the sauce is thick. Add the soy sauce, pineapple, carrots, MSG, and peppercorn. Cook for another 5 minutes before serving.

Filipino Pasta Recipes by Carlo Villamayor

Pop into any party and chances are there's a large helping of pasta on everyone's plate. Next to rice and pancit, pasta is no doubt one of the most popular party foods in the Philippines. That's why you'll find it in most Filipino food chains, although it's not considered fast food anywhere else in the world. Yes, it's not exactly part of Filipino cuisine, but we've found ways to make it fit in with our tastes.

But if you've been to enough parties, you'll notice there's hardly any variety in Filipino pastas. There seems to be a standard: the sauce has to be bright red, there's got to be hot dogs in, and you have to be generous with the cheese. But nothing's keeping you from breaking the rules. If you want to surprise your guests at your next party, try one of these pasta Filipino recipes.

Chicken Lasagna

This is a rich pasta dish perfect for those really special occasions. You can serve it with garlic bread like other pasta recipes, or serve with a light potato salad on the side.

Ingredients 8-10 lasagna sheets, cooked 2 cups chicken meat, cooked and diced 1 cup button mushrooms, sliced 2 cups canned tomatoes 1 onion, chopped ½ tsp oregano ½ tsp basil ½ cup half and half 1 ¼ cups chicken broth 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded ½ cup ricotta cheese, shredded 2 tbsp butter 3 tbsp flour parmesan cheese to taste salt and pepper to taste

Switch to low heat and add the half and half. In a greased baking pan, spread some of the cream sauce on the base and cover with a layer of lasagna. Layer with the meat sauce, cream sauce, and risotto and mozzarella cheeses. Keep adding layers until you're out of sauce. Top with parmesan and bake for about25 minutes at 350oF.

Polka Dot Mac and Cheese

Kids will love this colorful dish at birthday parties. it takes less than 30 minutes to prepare, so you'll have time to make other Filipino food recipes.

Ingredients: 1 cup elbow macaroni, cooked 2 hot dogs ½ cup milk 1 cup cheddar cheese soup 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

Procedure: Preheat your oven to 375oF. Put the macaroni in a large baking dish. Stir in the cheese sauce, worcestershire and milk, making sure all the noodles are evenly coated. Chop the hot dogs into thin slices, then arrange on top of the pasta. Bake for 25 minutes or until hot dogs are done.

Penne with Tomato Cream Sauce

Some people like traditional red sauce; others like it white and creamy. This recipe strikes the perfect balance between the two. This works great with Filipino desserts recipes such as leche flan and halo-halo.

Ingredients: 1 cup penne pasta, cooked ½ cup bacon, chopped ¼ cup onion, chopped 1 clove garlic, minced ¾ cup bell pepper, chopped 2 cups canned whole peeled tomatoes, unsalted ½ tsp dried basil ¼ cup evaporated milk 1 tsp sugar 2 tsp flour salt and pepper to taste

Procedure: cook the bacon, onion, and garlic on medium heat until tender. Add the tomato, sugar, basil, salt and pepper. Stir well and bring to a boil, then switch to low heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Stir in the penne and cook another 2-3 minutes.

Eggplant lasagna

This one is perfect for vegetarians or health-conscious eaters. The eggplant provides the fullness of meat, making it much like traditional Filipino cooking recipes.

Ingredients: 2 cups spaghetti sauce ½ kg eggplant, thinly sliced 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded 1 ½ cups ricotta cheese, shredded 1 ½ cups pitted olives 3 garlic cloves, minced 1 tsp oregano 1 tsp dried basil 2 tsp fennel seeds 1/3 cup olive oil

Procedure: Preheat your oven to 425oF. Stir the basil and oregano into the olive oil, then brush onto the eggplant strips. Brown both sides of the eggplant until tender. Layer the eggplant, mozzarella and ricotta, sauce, fennel seeds, and olives in a casserole dish; repeat as necessary. Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top and cover. Bake for about 25 minutes or until the cheese gets bubbly. Let it cool for about 15 minutes.

Potatoes Hot and Cold by Jhon Smith

Among the many thousands of favorite potato recipes handed down from generation to generation, the ultimate favorite has to be the simple, thick, white and delicious potato soup recipe everybody's grandma used to make. But even though it's comfort food, it's not as easy to make as you might think. Below are a few basic potato soup recipes that really work.

TRIED AND TRUE GRANDMA'S POTATO SOUP RECIPE (The trick is to take your time!)

3 teaspoons butter or margarine 3 cups chopped leeks (or onions) 3 tablespoons flour 2 quarts water Salt & pepper to taste 4 cups chopped potato ½ cup heavy cream 3 tablespoons chopped parsley

In a five-quart pan, melt the butter and add the leeks (or onions). Cook over medium heat until for five minutes.

Carefully and slowly, add the water as you stir the mixture to avoid lumps, the bane of the potato soup. Your grandma would never make lumpy potato soup, and there's no reason for you to, either.

Add the chopped potatoes and simmer, partially covered, for 45 minutes. Just before you serve this soup, stir in the cream and parsley, plus three more tablespoons of butter.

While there's no better potato soup recipe for the bleak mid-winter months than the basic potato recipe above, during the sweltering summer months, nothing rivals the cold and classy Vichysoise.

This classic French potato soup recipe is famous the world over for a refreshing one-dish cold meal when the heat is fierce.

COLD POTATO SOUP RECIPE (Vichysoise)

Make one liter (one quart) of vegetable stock using bouillon cubes. Pre-bake a half kilo (1 pound, 2 ounces) of potatoes. After they cool, peel them and crumble them loosely right into the vegetable stock. Using a hand-blender, mix until creamy and thick, then stir in about 2 ounces of sherry and sour cream, salt and pepper to taste. Let the soup get cold in the refrigerator, or use ice cubes in the mix.

You can boil the potatoes in the stock rather than bake them, and you can substitute wine for the sherry. Try using chicken stock or chicken bouillon instead of vegetable bouillon too, or even leftover mashed potatoes and leftover veggie soup! You can even use sweet potatoes or red potatoes instead of regular potatoes. It's all good provender, and -- as my grandpa used to say - you put the hay down where the goats can get at it.

Yummy Foods to Create Healthier Skin in Just 3 Minutes by Naweko San-Joyz...

Time is a precious. Anything that you can do to save a few minutes here and there is priceless. And meal time can save you time and improve your vitality when you let your foods do double duty. You eat to gain energy, to lower your cholesterol level, to maintain digestive health and, of course to help create gorgeous skin. You can pack all four of these benefits into one yummy dessert. Plus, this treat takes less than three minutes to make.

Ingredients:

  • 1 half-cup of plain, low-fat yogurt
  • 1 third-cup of all bran cereal
  • 1 medium apple sliced into cubes
  • 1 packet of calorie-free sucralose sweetener
  • In a bowl, add the cubed apples and top with the bran cereal. Top the bran with the low-fat yogurt. If you want, swirl in the packet of sucralose to add a bit of sweetness to this treat and to help dilute the tartness of the yogurt. Now you have a dessert that beautifies the skin.

How these foods benefit the skin

The low-fat yogurt fills your bowels with probiotics (helpful bacteria) that help break down nutrients, encourage regularity and allow your skin to maximize the foods you consume. Bulk from the bran gleans away waste from the bowels and further promote bowel health.

Additionally, the bran aids in the removal of cholesterol from the blood. Excess circulating cholesterol can lead to bumpy, rough skin and clogged pores. Thus, controlling your cholesterol level can result in smoother skin.

The apples deliver moisture and more fiber to colon which again supports regularity. Collectively, this dessert promotes beautiful skin by aiding in the efficient removal of toxins from the body while helping the skin retain an optimal moisture level.

Delights of Spanish Cuisine by Catherine Smith...

    Spanish Food

The two basic ingredients of all Spanish food are olive oil and garlic. The golden spice saffron enhances many Spanish foods, paella in particular as well as many other dishes including Asturian fabada, a wonderful mixture of beans, chorizo, morcilla and salt pork. To savour the truly wonderful world of Spanish food it's essential to venture beyond the seaside tourist traps and follow the example of the Spaniards.

    Tapas

There isn't a Spanish holiday that doesn't involve sampling tasty Tapas. If at times you have been tempted to sample everything on a menu, tapas may be in your future. Tapas can be found in even the smallest bar in a tiny village. It can vary from simple to complex and include cheese, fish, eggs, vegetable dishes, dips, canapés, and savoury pastries. Every Spaniard has his favourite tasca, as the tapas bars are often called, where he goes regularly to meet his friends or business acquaintances. The way to tell a good tapas bar from a poor one in Spain, is to measure the square footage you can occupy on the floor: Anything more than one square foot means it's not the best.

    Paella

It was the poor peasant people of the Valencian region who invented Spain's most famous dish, paella. Paella is a rice dish, usually cooked with seafood, pork, rabbit or chicken and seasoned with saffron.

    Bread

The waiter is also likely to bring you Spanish bread, sometimes placed right on the tabletop. A dish of olive oil, possibly containing slivers of butter, will also come with the bread in some regions of Spain.

    Vegetarian Food

The idea that Spanish cuisine can't be appreciated if you don't eat pork will come as a big surprise to the growing number of veggies in Spain as well as the million Muslims who live there. It's true that a lot of traditional recipes contain pork and seafood, but many restaurants are creating delicious veggie dishes and you can always just pick out the veggie dishes when creating tapas. Vegetable Paella is also widespread and rather yummy.

    Language

The general rule of thumb for finding the best places to eat in Spain is to go to restaurants with Spanish- only menus, but this rule is not universally correct. It helps to have a basic grasp of the Spanish language when eating out in Spain, but learning Spanish will also help you enjoy all aspects of your holiday.

Spanish food should be a memorable factor from your holiday in Spain. You can even try some of the recipes when you get home.

Summer Party Ideas by Midori Party...

If you're planning to host a party, here are some tips to makes sure it all goes smoothly. Start by writing down a party plan. This will also help you to make sure you have everything you need to make your summer party a success. Some things to think about are the lighting, music, theme, food and drinks. Soft lighting is always best. Try some floating candles in bowls or even decorative lanterns. And remember, a summer party is always best outside, so put that backyard to use.

Picking music can be tricky. If you don't know what to play, then try some of the current hits or cool summer songs from the last 30 years. Make sure you play music that people can dance to. You could also ask your guests what types of music they like and put together a selection everyone will enjoy. Here's a hint: Play softer music at the start of the night, and then turn it up as the party gets going.

If you want to liven up your party a little (and make your choice of music easier) try having a theme. From a beach theme, to a Hawaiian party or a full-blown costume party, the only limit is your imagination - so get creative.

The next thing to consider is food. Light, fresh food is the best choice for Summer as well as simple cool dishes, like salads, fish or fruits and vegetables. To compliment these dishes, here are a few refreshing summer cocktail ideas.

The first is the Midori Illusion. For this drink you take 60ml of Midori, 15ml of Cointreau, 15 ml of Vodka and 30 ml of lemon juice and pour it into a glass. Top it up with some pineapple juice and there you have it, the Midori Illusion.

The Midori splice has fewer ingredients and is a little simpler to prepare. All this one needs is 30ml of Midori and 30ml of Coconut rum poured into a glass with ice and topped up with pineapple juice.

Try one, Try both and get your summer party off to a refreshing start with two cocktails perfectly suited to the season. It's also always a great idea to provide some summer juices or soft drink for your guests who don't drink alcohol. After all, a good party is also responsible party.

French Press Coffee Maker by David Swanson...

For millions of people a cup of coffee in the morning is the spark plug to get them started and able to face the battles they may encounter during the day. There are several different types of coffee one can choose from in order to suit their specific tastes. In addition, there are numerous different ways to prepare your coffee as well. You can either go to your local coffee shop or you can make your own cup of coffee at home. Most individuals brew their coffee with just an ordinary electronic coffee maker. However, there are better ways to make a good cup of coffee without spending big dollars on an extravagant cappuccino maker or something else equally expensive that are difficult to master and keep in good working condition. These expensive machines become outdated requiring you to purchase a new one every couple of years. The French press was invented over a hundred years ago. It has received a few improvements over the years but remains relatively the same today.

One of the best ways to prepare coffee is by using a French press coffee maker. A French press coffee maker is perfectly named for what it does. The basic operation of how it functions goes like this: You add your coffee grinds into the pot and then you add the boiling water. You then you are ready to begin applying the pressure on the plunging type tool which presses down on the coffee, filtering out the grinds with the screen on the plunging tool and brewing up a tasty cup of wonderful coffee. It really is that easy. You might be wondering what the benefit of a French press coffee maker, so let me tell you. French press coffee makers produce a stronger cup of coffee then would your traditional electric coffee maker. This is great for those who like their coffee full of that robust coffee flavor. It is recommended that you drink your cup of coffee right away, while it is still piping hot, to get the best results.

Coffee to most people is as routine as brushing your teeth in the morning. When using a French press coffee maker, you save quite a bit of time because it does not require the time it takes an electric coffee maker to brew a fresh pot. Because it does not require electricity, you can take it with you anywhere you go and prepare a fresh cup of coffee wherever you are. Even when you are camping in the wilderness you can have a rich and robust cup of coffee freshly pressed. While in west Africa recently, far from the comforts of home, we were able to have coffee prepared in a French press. This made the trip bearable and mornings there worth jumping out of bed. Coffee is the fuel for countless people. If you are one of these coffee addicts and like a full flavored type coffee, consider a French press coffee maker and see taste the difference. Once you try it, you will be a French press convert.

The Role of Godparents in Baptism & Invitations for Baptism by Sarah Porter, http://www.express-invitations.com

The role of the godparent for baptism is rooted in the role of the sponsor in the catechumenate, which originated in the early Church, Role of Godparents in Baptism Ceremony. In the early days, the role of the sponsor was to attest to the integrity of the person, oftentimes an adult, seeking admission into the Church as well as to assist him during the catechumenate in preparing for these sacraments and in living a Christian life. For infants, these sponsors would also make the Profession of Faith in the child's name and accept the responsibility of instructing the child in the faith, especially if the parents failed in this duty. Around 800 a.d. when infant baptism was truly the norm, these sponsors were called "patrinus," or "godfather." Traditionally, we identify the sponsor of a child for baptism as the godparent, godmother or godfather, but the technical term remains "sponsor."

According to the Code of Canon Law, "Insofar as possible, one to be baptized is to be given a sponsor who is to assist an adult in Christian initiation, or, together with the parents, to present an infant at the baptism, and who will help the baptized to lead a Christian life in harmony with baptism, and to fulfill faithfully the obligations connected with it". This statement clearly reflects the historical roots of the role of sponsor.

To be a sponsor, a person must be chosen by the person to be baptized, or by the parents or guardians of a child, or, in their absence, by the pastor or minister of the sacrament. The sponsor must not only have the intention of being a sponsor but also meet proper qualifications. The sponsor must have completed his sixteenth year unless the Bishop has established another age for sponsorship, or the pastor or minister judges that a just cause warrants an exception to the rule. He must be a Catholic who has received the sacraments of holy Eucharist and confirmation, and "leads a life in harmony with the faith and the role to be undertaken."

Although a person needs only one sponsor for baptism, male or female, he may have two sponsors, one male and one female. Who qualifies as a Catholic godparent? A Catholic who does not practice the faith by regularly attending Mass or who is in an invalid marriage disqualifies himself from being a godparent. Moreover, if a person is Catholic but antagonistic to the faith, i.e. has the attitude "I am a Catholic but...," and would not be a good example and witness to the faith also disqualifies himself. If a person is not striving to fulfill his own obligations of baptism, he will not fulfill the responsibilities of helping another to do so.

Parents need to find good practicing Catholics for godparents. The best place is to look for relatives, even grandparents, who have a blood relationship with the godchild and have kept the faith over the years. Good friends are also appropriate, but sometimes friendships wane, leaving the godchild without an active godparent. Godparents should be faithful individuals who are ready to accept the responsibility of being a part of a godchild's life for the rest of his life.

A Christian of another denomination, whether Orthodox or Protestant, may be a "Christian witness" to the baptism along with the Catholic godparent. The reason for this distinction and restriction is that the godparent not only is taking responsibility for the religious education and spiritual formation of the baptized person, but also is representing the Church, the community of faith, into which the person is being baptized. A Christian who is not Catholic, although perhaps a very holy, Christian, cannot fully attest to the beliefs of the Catholic Church. Likewise, a Catholic can only be a Christian witness for someone who is baptized into another Christian denomination.

Godparents serve a special role in the life of the baptized person. Therefore, each parent should choose a godparent not just because of a blood relationship or friendship. A godparent should be a trustworthy witness of the faith who will help the godchild attain salvation.

The Electrician: Some Good Points To Know by Wandile Maseko

Within the next few years, thousands of electrician jobs will be available to many people because this type of occupation is so important in construction with homes and buildings. It is a very needed profession all over. Electricians sometimes learn their trade through on the job training and also through formal training such as apprenticeship programs. Some people start out by going to vocational schools when they are young. And others get special training through other places. Some electricians are self employed and others work for sub contractors.

    Job lookout

As the population and economy continues to grow electricians will be more in demand then ever. Electricians will be needed to install and maintain electrical wiring and devices in homes, offices, factories and other places. New technology will also continue the high demand for electricians. Electricians also pre wire buildings during construction to get the buildings ready for the use of computers and telecommunications equipment. More factories will go to using robots and automated manufacturing systems. The demand for electricians will increase due to installation of this type of equipment. The demand for electricians will also increase due to rehabilitation and retrofitting of existing structures.

The amount of job opportunities for electricians in any given year will vary widely from area to area. Depending on the growth and change in the communities. There are some parts of the country that may experience a large supply of electricians while other parts of the country may have a shortage on electricians. It will all depend on the area of the country as to what the demand for electricians will be.

    Hiring an electrician

Most electrical contractors don't mind giving you a estimate at your home. But if it is just a small job they can loose money just by driving out to your home. So the electrician may give you a minimum price or a fixed price for the job you want done. On large jobs you can ask for a hourly rate for a job. You should call around and get the best rates for the work you need. And have more then one contractor come out to your home for a estimate. It is a good thing to get the best overall price for the job.

If the electrician has to bring helpers to get the work done on a larger job he may have to charge more for this. So ask before the job starts. Try and think of everything you can that has to do with the job that you are having done. And always ask questions so you won't be surprised when the job is finished.

    The things done by electricians

If we did not have electricians then there would be no lights, computers or TV's in our homes anywhere. Electricians are skilled professionals that bring electricity in to our homes and make everything operate and work properly. They safely install wires that carry all the electricity through our homes, offices and also the factories we work in. Electricians are able to fix any kind of electrical problems we have in our homes and our businesses. They are skilled workers that have been trained to know how to deal with all electrical problems and fix them properly and safely.

Some electricians work mainly in factories. Fixing such items like motors and generators. It is also the electrician's job to inspect equipment and repair it before it breaks down. They will inform managers on when to replace old equipment. And will install all the new electrical equipment back again. Electricians may use tools like wire strippers, knives, hacksaws and several power tools. Electricians tend to do a lot of standing and climb ladders. Electricians work in all weather conditions. They often work in dirty conditions with hot temperatures. And then sometimes they will work in clean conditions with comfortable temperatures.

How To Build Hovercraft Models For A Science Project by Rashel Dan

Every year your science class teacher would probably ask you to build something out of the principles being imparted in class. So your school comes up with an annual science project. The objective of science projects is to be able to clearly display the principles of a particular branch in this course. So you came up with an idea to build hovercraft models using the applications of physics.

Physics is one the major branches of science that when expanded reveals countless applications. From engineering to simple daily occurrences, this is one of the favorite discussions in a science class. The hovercraft, although not commonly used in urban transportation means, is a perfect example. And so you're off to a good start.

Gather the materials you need. Understanding how to build hovercraft vehicles is the same with any vessel of this type. To come up with one for your project is simply improvising the materials and bringing the applied science to its miniature version. As mentioned, the objective is to show the principles.

The basic things you will need are:

    1. Platform - Use a wooden disk with the size of a manhole cover. You want a science project that is portable and easy to carry. So keep the size handy. This is probably the biggest in your hovercraft project.

    2. Leaf blower or vacuum cleaner - You will use this to supply air flow into your platform. You may use any other gadget as long as you can put the air flow in reverse but this is the easiest to find. Your build hovercraft model must follow the air cushion system of the actual hovercraft.

    3. A plastic sheet that is flexible - This will serve as your improvised skirt. The skirt is supposed to trap air below your platform. When doing so, it builds pressure and thus creates a cushion of air. Because of the plastic sheet's elastic properties, it will only allow limited air to disperse out of its contained space.

    4. Fasteners - Use fasteners such as bolts and nuts to fasten all these materials together.

    5. A detailed illustration of your science project hovercraft - To do this, you need to check on other hovercraft kits. Learn the principles. The components should be similar to the materials you have. For example, the fanning system in actual hovercrafts is represented by your leaf blower. The hovercraft hull is you platform disk and so on.

Now you got it all prepared to build hovercraft model for your project in school. This shouldn't be hard. Your hovercraft project should be able to carry a real person. Of course you can't guarantee it could carry anyone who is heavier than you. Use your weight as a basis. That is why the platform is suggested to be the size of a manhole cover for this purpose. Last but not least, remember to always pay attention to you science teacher in class.

The worst disaster: Cherobyl by Matt Jensen Rey P. Colon

A reactor accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant made the worst nuclear power plant accident in history, resulting in a severe nuclear meltdown. On the 26th of April, 1986 the 4th nuclear reactor at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant located in the Soviet Union exploded. Further explosions and the resulting fire sent a gigantic gas of highly radioactive fell out into the atmosphere and over to half of Europe and the Soviet Union. Russia one of the most affected parts has evacuated about three-hundred, thirty thousand (330,000) people to safety.

The accident raised concerns about the safety of the Soviet nuclear power industry, slowing its expansion for a number of years, while forcing the Soviet government to become less secretive. The now-independent countries of Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus have been burdened with the continuing and substantial decontamination and health care costs of the Chernobyl accident. It is difficult to tally accurately the number of deaths caused by the events at Chernobyl, as the Soviet-era cover-up made it difficult to track down victims. Lists were incomplete, and Soviet authorities later forbade doctors to cite "radiation" on death certificates. Most causes of death are due to thyroid cancer. World Health Organization (WHO), have reported 56 direct deaths (47 accident workers, and nine children with thyroid cancer), and about four-thousand (4,000) extra deaths due to cancer among the approximately 6.6 million most highly exposed. Specifically, the report cited almost 4,000 thyroid cancer cases among children diagnosed by.

Although the Chernobyl quarantine and certain limited areas will remain off limits, the majority of affected areas are now considered safe. And now you can see the Nuclear power plant no.4 buried in thick concrete.

Technology Benefits from Solar Power! by Vince Paxton

Everything we do requires electricity most of this comes from burning coal which has very damaging effects to the environment. In order to slow down the effects of global warming people are frantically searching for alternative ways to satisfy our thirst for power. Solar power is the best way we have to do this at the moment, everyone even homeowners are calling for improvements in this technology.

New technology that affects solar panels is being created all the time. All of these little advancements add up to become something much more important.

    Electricity in the Past

Humans are designed to love new things, this causes priorities to change. When the priorities of the public change businesses will start to produce different things. The money, resources and ideas all go into satisfying what people want.

During the Industrial revolution for example the priorities focused on mass producing products. During the last 20 years however the main priority has been computers. Computers are actually very helpful, and we could even say that without computers we might still know nothing about global warming.

    PC + Solar Power?

The solar power industry is actually following the PC industry quite accurately. The very first computers were the size of a whole room, and didn't really do anything other than work out sums. However now you can get a really small cell phone that has more processing power than those early computers. Silicon chips have made it possible to get more and more power inside a smaller space.

The state of the art solar panels and home windows are using silicon to produce the panels. The cells that are contained in these solar panels are normally crystalline silicon. These individual cells are shrinking all the time and becoming cheaper to produce. There are also alternative uses for these solar panels, in calculators for example. Solar panels can also be rolled up because they are becoming flexible. Technology truly is amazing!

Solar panels certainly aren't the work of science fiction. They are used pretty much everywhere these days. With the continuous advancements of the industry it won't be long until we all see them attached to our homes. Using a solar panel could be enough to save this planet. Many people are demanding renewable forms of electricity, so why not do something about it yourself?

Stem Cells Save Hurt Hearts by Jason Witt

When you receive the Seal you will begin to take care of your health. But if you have a heart attack today the damage is considered done. Fortunately stem cells are now being successfully used to repair that damage to the heart.

Researchers at the Imperial College of London have been able to keep beating heart cells alive for 7 months and also construct what they call a scaffold which is "biocompatible" and will not be rejected by living heart tissue.

They have been able to use the scaffold to create a patch for heart tissue damaged after a heart attack. What happens is called an infarct, where blood coagulates and living tissue of the heart dies (in necrosis.)

This happens when a thrombus or an embolus restricts the natural circulation of the blood in the heart. A thrombus is a blood clot which gets lodged in one place in the blood vessels and an embolus is a blood clot that circulates around.

So these blood clots cause the blood to coagulate and no fresh blood with oxygen reaches the heart muscle to keep it alive. And the heart, the pump of that blood breaks down, threatening the life of the whole body.

Now embryonic stem cells are being used to put a patch on the area of the heart scarred by the infarct. This will replace the tissue that has died with new living tissue, rebuilding the heart to its original vitality.

Often in an infarct the scar tissue will become weak and bulge out of the heart, causing problems. The stem cells can be "programmed" to have enough elasticity to solve the problem of bulging scar tissue.

One of the bigger challenges with developing this life-extending procedure is getting the cells to act just like healthy heart cells. Otherwise abnormal heart rhythms could be caused and the patient is no more healthy after the heart attack.

Studies need to be done on animals. And the question here is: will these new cells of the patch be rejected by the scarred heart they are grafted onto? Acceptance by the heart is crucial--otherwise the procedure will not work.

Of course there was until quite recently an ethical issue with using stem cells. But stem cells have been made into heart cells from "reprogrammed" cells from other tissue, without using embryonic stem cells and sacrificing a life.

This is a victory for life. Now stem cells are being developed into all kinds of treatments that can improve the lives of patients with all kinds of ailments and not take a life for that purpose.

Life begins at conception even though it is not fully developed yet. Embryos are fully alive and the embryo is spiritually alive since God planned the Life of His chosen people from before He created the earth.

Killing an embryo (and the multiple embryos that would need to be killed) just to benefit a more mature person's health is akin to ancient practices of sacrificing people to please the "gods."

When you are sealed you will find that you are one of God's chosen people. God thought and felt affectionately about this millennial generation from long before 2000 years ago. He thought about you from before the creation of the world.

When you are sealed God will write His own Name upon you. He will choose you, just as He wanted to do from before history as you understand it. And now you do not have to kill any other chosen people to be healed from disease when you receive the Seal.

Detecting Ghosts Through Media: Film, Voice Recording,Motion Sensors, and Temperature Gauges by Horatiu A. Davidescu

Though we have been capturing ghosts on film since the dawn of photography, the methods by which we are able to do this today has vastly improved, along with the technology of film. Likewise, voice technology, since the invention of the telephone, has vastly improved, and there are some schools of thought that subscribe to EVP, or “Electronic Voice Phenomenon,” which is performed, in essence, by tuning a radio to a “white noise” frequency (usually an AM station) and recording hours and hours of this “fuzz-noise” in the hopes of being able to pick up the voice of a ghost, a concept that many people heartily believe in and pursue quite readily. It has also been observed and documented over the years that the “best times” (though not exclusively) to be able to contact a ghost are the early hours in the morning, around 3 a.m., and again, 12 hours later, at 3 p.m. in the afternoon " scientific studies have revealed that both of these times are ideal to “catch ghosts” in their activities because these times reflect the minimum of barometric pressure in the double daily wave, plus the minimum of air movement near the ground, along with a minimum of “oscillations” in terrestrial magnetism. During these times, explored and discovered by Dr. Gunther Wachsmuth in his meteorological book, Earth and Man, there is a great amount of conductivity of the vertical electric current on earth, and of radioactivity in the layers nearest the ground. And because ghosts, like all things, are composed entirely of pure energy, it makes good, common sense to conclude that they will definitely be more active and accessible to us at those time gradients. There are a few different areas of thought on the subject of how to capture ghosts in a medium by which we can view or go over later for further study, and just to cover all the bases, we’ll include all of them here; what might work well for one person may not do the trick for another, so it is safe to try any or all of these methods:

    1) Working With Film and Camera Equipment

In today’s state-of-the-art technology, though there are many different ways in which to measure a ghost’s activity; the most popular among these is the camera. High-speed, color film used on either a 35-mm or digital camera will produce good results, as will Polaroid film. Many, many photos of orbs and streaks of white that were not seen by the naked eye when the photos were taken have appeared in Polaroid shots, so just because those are not the “latest and the greatest” of our cameras today, don’t put them on the shelf just yet. It’s best to use two cameras; if you’re going with a team of four or five people, of course, this is much easier to handle; one person can load a 35-mm camera with 400 ASA color print film, and another can shoot with a digital camera. Another good way to capture images of ghosts is with black-andwhite film, and the use of a tripod is an excellent luxury, but often one that the average ghost-hunting team won’t be able to carry around very easily. Use the cameras sparingly, but actively when you sense a ghostly presence or an energy; at these times, you should simply point and shoot, point and shoot, repeatedly, when you feel you have come upon a possible ghost. You should be prepared to go through many, many rolls of film because often, only one or two in 200 photos will actually catch the ghost on film. Remember, they move very quickly and can appear and reappear in the blink of an eye, so make sure you stay on high alert at all times!

    2) How To Use Motion Detectors

Before “pointing and shooting,” however, there are other technical devices you should have on hand to be able to detect motion and temperature, which should keep you from wasting too much film. One important piece of equipment is a gaussmeter, which is designed to register deviations in electromagnetic fields. Another is the sound level meter, which is designed to measure the intensity of audio generated from either below or above the human audio range. Yet another very helpful device is a digital thermometer, which measures even the most delicate and slight temperature fluctuations. Also, don’t forget the old, trusty tape recorder " magnetic tape, as discussed earlier in this book, will also pick up audio sounds not detectable to the human ear, and you don’t have to spend a great deal on money on a good tape recorder that will provide a digital analysis of sound. When you begin to investigate what you believe to be a haunted place, it’s best to start with the electromagnetic field reader, or “EMF” device. You can go from room to room, scanning for any abnormalities " and, most importantly, for reasonable explanations to these abnormal readings, such as any electrical device that gives off a “reading,” sending the sensor shooting way up. If you do eliminate all other reasonable possibilities of an irregular or “abnormal” reading, then point and shoot! It’s also a good idea to have another person in the group test the air temperature; if it drops dramatically in one spot or area in the room, that’s your second “clue” that you may have indeed found a ghost. EMF meters like these are not unique or hard to find; they are available in most electronics stores and can be bought right off the shelf. In particular, however, some units are more desirable than others for these purposes. An EMF detector that has a range of zero to 199.9 milligauss operates on a 9-volt battery and is small enough to fit inside a shirt pocket. Remember that large appliances, such as refrigerators, microwave ovens, fish tanks, etc., will generate a very strong EMF reading, giving you a “false-positive,” so take those precautions discussed earlier to ensure that you’re not just detecting a vacuum cleaner! Watch the screen to determine when and if a reading greater than 1.0 milligauss is obtained; this, without any outside electrical interference, could indicate the presence of a ghost. However, one could get that same reading and watch it immediately drop below the 1.0 milligauss level, which would indicate that the operator of the device may have scanned a ghost moving across the room. These are very sensitive instruments, and great care and patience is needed to be able to arrive at good, verifiable conclusions, so set aside as much time as possible to spend in the areas that you may feel are vulnerable or high in ghostly activity.

    3) Using Audio Equipment

Going back to the ghost “voice” phenomenon discussed in Chapter 3, also referred to as the “phantom voice,” these are events in which a ghost seems to be able to speak to us through an electronic medium; it is able to manipulate the machine in such a way so that it reproduces a sound as similar to what we understand and interpret as a “voice,” but it does not call and leave a more lengthy message, etc., because a ghost does not have a voice, as we do; again, ghosts use thought patterns to transmit their energies and manipulate them in various ways through several electronic mediums, and this is just one of the ways in which they can accomplish that. The ghostly “voice” is below or above the human range of hearing, which is the reason that an animal, such as a dog or a cat will be able to “hear” the voices, such as they are, whereas we cannot. For example, a dog can easily hear a dog whistle, but when we blow on it, we hear no sound " it is the same principle. The sound device that is best used to pick up ghostly “mutterings” is a simple, small, analog sound meter, similar to the EMF, which also uses a 9-volt battery and when scanned around a room, has a sensitive needle inside which will suddenly “spark” if ghostly sounds are detected. Watch the intensity meter for minor needle movement while the analog sound level meter is set on the lowest scale possible. Then, if you see needle movements, slowly scan the meter around the room until the signal is increased. The needle will then “flutter” lightly back and forth, and it is at this point when photographs should be taken, and a tape recorder should be activated as well to tape any sounds not detectable by the human ear but that can be picked up via magnetic tape and analyzed later.

    4) What is a “Cold Spot?”

Another very reliable method of detecting a ghost’s presence is with a digital thermometer. Investigators have documented many cases in which a narrow column of cold air rises from the floor to the ceiling of a room " the investigator can pass their hands through this column, which always appears to be very narrow. When they do so, they have reported feeling a “chill” or a definite “shift” in temperature relative to the rest of the room. This indicates a ghostly presence. But the question remains: Does the “cold spot” create the chills that people feel when their hair is electrified and literally “stands on end?” Does their hair stand on end due to the electromagnetic charge the ghost gives off by its very presence in the room? Because we already know that ghosts use our energy to insinuate themselves into our earth plane, it would be safe to say that this is the case, and that we may be able to soon prove that ghosts enter our plane via a very narrow type of “vortex” or “funnel” instead of just “plopping down,” or “landing” carelessly somewhere. It could be, and it is still being debated today, that the swirling energy vortex through which ghosts make their presence known is the actual source of the column that produces the cold air and the resulting electrical discharge. Photographs that have been taken of these swirling energy vortexes indicate that this energy apparently has matter, or density, to it, because it reflects light (we are able to photograph it, hence it reflects light) and because it also casts a shadow. Anyone interested in trying their luck at becoming a ghost hunter can start building their ghost-hunting tool bag with simple, yet effective tools. There are two items that are “must-haves”: a 35-mm with 400 ASA color or black-andwhite film, or a digital camera; and a standard magnetic compass for detecting a ghost’s energies. The compass should be used as a directional finder, using the needle to point to the ghost’s energy. Even with these simple tools, you’ll be well on your way to some happy ghost hunting!

How To Refine Silver Using Household Chemicals by Mirko Davidovic

Throughout history silver has played a major role in all aspects of society. It has been used as a metal of choice for currencies, barter and trade. The bourgeois used it as a metering wealth status. Advances in medicine, electronics and others, are made largely to unique properties of silver. Silver, along side with gold, are the two precious metals sought after. The supplies are dwindling, while the demand is reaching an all time high.

Not surprisingly, the price of silver has more than tripled in recent years. Both silver and gold are the commodity to hedge against the falling dollar. It is becoming a "must-have" in personal investment portfolios.

Scrap silver is all around us. It comes from variety of sources with diversified metal purity. This article is designed to refine your own silver using readily available household chemicals. The methods you are about to be introduced to will produce more than 99% of pure silver!

The first step in refining is to dissolve the silver. The best way is to use dilute Nitric Acid. Good concentration is around 40 - 50%. Concentrated Nitric Acid is one chemical that will be hard to obtain.

Since 9/11 the availability of Nitric Acid has been drastically reduced and for a good reason. Nitric Acid is one of the main components to make explosives.

For our refining purpose we will need relatively small amount of Nitric Acid. To make this, we will use concentrated Sulfuric Acid. Sulfuric Acid is commonly used as a liquid drain opener, readily available from any hardware store. The one that we will use is more than 95 percent pure. The second ingredient needed is Sodium Nitrate. It is readily available fertilizer from any gardening store.

Pour 200ml of hot distilled water to a pre-heated 1liter Pyrex container, 1 quart mason jar will work. Add approx. 400 gm of Sodium Nitrate to dissolve (Potassium Nitrate can be used as well). Once the Nitrate is completely dissolved allow it to cool down well below the boiling point, but still hot. To this solution SLOWLY add 110 ml conc. Sulfuric Acid while stirring. Do not allow the solution to boil. Cool the solution to room temperature.

Place the jar in the freezer and allow the solution to reach ~ -5 degrees Celsius. Once all of the precipitate has settled, pour off the solution to a glass container with a tightly sealed lid. Discard the precipitate. (Make sure not to transfer any of the sulfate salt) You have just made over 300ml of ~ 50% Nitric Acid.

Fair Word Of Caution! You are dealing with concentrated acids. Take all safety precautions when dealing with concentrated acids. Make sure you wear rubber gloves, face shield and protective clothing. If you spill any of the acid, wash with plenty of water.

To refine Silver, dissolve several ounces of scrap metal in Nitric Acid. This will take some time, but make sure that all of the metal is in solution. Heating the solution will speed up the reaction. Do Not Boil.

Filter the solution using several coffee filters, keeping the clear solution. The Silver dissolved is in the form of Silver Nitrate.

The easiest way to get the Silver to drop out of the solution is to use Copper. Copper pipe, plate or any piece of solid copper will do. Suspend the Copper, using household twine in the acid solution. A white-grayish precipitate will start to accumulate around the copper. Tap gently the suspended Copper, and the Silver precipitate will sink to the bottom. What you are doing here is replacing the Silver Nitrate with Copper Nitrate, causing Silver to drop out of the solution.

Allow the solution to sit overnight and all of the precipitate will settle to the bottom.

The remaining solution should be crystal-blue in color. If not, use more Copper to get all of the Silver out. Filter the solution using several coffee filters, this time keeping the precipitate. Wash it several times using distilled water. There should not be any blue Copper Nitrate around the filter. Discard the spent solution and dry the filtrate. This precipitate is Silver. Place the dry precipitate in a crucible or a small graphite container. In a circular motion, using a torch, melt the precipitate in nuggets or the desired shape.

The result is over 99% pure Silver!

    Fuel Cells by David Tanguay

Fuel cells are simple devices, containing no moving parts and only four functional component elements: cathode, electrolyte, anode and interconnect. Fuel cells are actually being used more widely than many people think.

Fuel cells are electrochemical devices similar to batteries that directly convert chemical energy of a fuel into electrical energy and heat. They are {readmore}different from batteries in that they consume reactant, which must be replenished, while batteries store electrical energy chemically in a closed system.

Fuel cells are very useful as power sources in remote locations, such as spacecraft, remote weather stations, large parks, rural locations, and in certain military applications where conventional power may be difficult to obtain.

Although fuel cells are usually classified by their operating temperature and the type of electrolyte they use, they are not constrained by the maximum Carnot cycle efficiency as combustion engines are, because they do not operate with a thermal cycle.

There are many benefits to fuel cells, first, they are not dependent on dwindling oil supplies, running instead on hydrogen, the most abundant element in the universe, and second, fuel cells are much less polluting and about twice as efficient as typical steam-turbine electricity production. They are an extremely clean source of power because they combine hydrogen and oxygen the two elements that make up water, the main byproduct.

Fuel cells are no longer tomorrow's technology, the stuff of science fiction and space travel. They are used in many different applications that may not seem like a significant achievement, however the ways in which they can be used are growing every day.

Fuel cells are proof that there are smart, safe, and clean alternative power sources. It is proof that we can be self sustaining and that dependence on fossil fuels will one day soon be obsolete. Fuel cells have been referred to as continuous batteries when they are supplied with fuel as the can be sustained for a long periods of time.

Fuel cells are ideal for power generation, either connected to the electric grid to provide primary power, supplemental power or backup assurance for critical demand, or installed as a grid-independent generator for on-site power in areas that are inaccessible by power lines. They are being used in many different ways in the world today.

    · Buses

    · Boats

    · Trains

    · Planes

    · Scooters

    · Laptop computers

    · Cell Phones

These are just a few of the things that can fuel cells can power. There are many more and still more are in development.

Fuel cells are used in many different commercial and industrial applications, and are being seriously scrutinized to become the key component of the nations plan to secure energy for the future.

Belly Fat Stats Rate Risk Of Heart Disease by Jason Witt

When you receive the Seal you will be able to change your diet and lose weight. A new scientific study reveals the importance in losing belly fat to decrease risk of heart disease.

The study tracked over 24,000 men and women from age 45 to age 79 in the United Kingdom. They were participating in another study about cancer, so their information was available for this study.

The study, published in the Circulation: Journal of The American Heart Association, shows that belly fat is a risk factor for heart disease. And the best predictor of heart disease is using the waist-hip ratio of measurement.

The researchers took measurements of the bodies of the men and women and studied them for an average of over 9 years. While being studied, a few thousand of the men and women developed heart disease.

The researchers found that those with the highest risk for heart disease were those with the highest waist-to-hip ratio. This means that the more belly fat you have compared to your hips, the more likely you are to have heart disease.

Men in the highest 20 percent of waist-to-hip ratios were 55 percent more likely to develop heart disease than those in the lowest 20 percent. So the men with the most belly fat had a half-again as much chance of getting heart disease than those with the least.

It is even worse for women. Women in the highest 20 percent of waist-to-hip ratios were over 90 percent more likely to develop heart disease than the lowest 20 percent.

But when the waists were measured without considering the corresponding size of the hips, the risk of heart disease was underestimated by one-fifth to almost two-fifths.

When the hip size of men increased around 2.5 inches compared to their waists, their risk of heart disease went down 20 percent. Women needed about a 3.5 inch increase in hip size compared to waist for a 20 percent risk reduction.

This study shows the importance of losing that excess weight. Obesity puts people at higher risk for a variety of serious diseases including heart disease.

But people with big bellies and little hips often are not considered obese. They are thought to just have a little belly fat. But the more contrast there is between belly and waist size the more likely heart disease, even for those who are not much overweight.

When you are sealed God will show you how to lose the excess weight. He wants you to lose the weight so you do not die prematurely of disease you really can avoid.

God wants to give you more life--a better life. He gives you spiritual Life and promises you Heaven. But He expects you to do what you can to preserve your life in this world too. Exercise is important but diet is even more important.

To lose the belly fat, you need to cut out most of the calories you are getting now. Cut out snacks and processed food like junk food and white flours. And consider replacing some of your coffee with oolong tea which is scientifically proven to burn lots of fat.

When you are sealed God will give you the ability to change your diet. He will give you the insight, and that is the important first step. With the insight you will soon be ready to take action when you receive the Seal.

Benefits of Playing the Piano by Alison Wood

The Wikipedia definition of piano is " a musical instrument played by means of a keyboard that produces sound by striking steel strings with felt hammers. The hammers immediately rebound allowing the strings to continue vibrating at their resonant frequency. These vibrations are transmitted through a bridge to a soundboard that amplifies them".

Ambrose Bierce describes it thus " a parlor utensil for subduing the impenitent visitor. It is operated by depressing the keys of the machine and the spirits of the audience".

Well that covers the technicalities and the humour, but nothing can come near to that feeling of being able to sit down at a keyboard and let the music flow. I had piano lessons at school, being taught by a very elderly nun who used to make me do finger exercises for ages at the table, before I was even let loose on the precious piano. I believed she then used to snooze through much of the latter part of my lesson, but that's another story.

I did love playing as a child. When a small piece came together, after weeks of bashing away at the keys, it was a joyous feeling. However, as with many other things when we are young, the time I devoted to my lessons became less and less as all the other parts of a typical teenager's life took over.

That is why at the grand old age of thirty-five I have returned to learning the piano and oh, how times and teaching have changed. I was kind of hesitant returning to notes and keys but it is a revelation to find out how teaching methods have moved on. I'm not saying that I am at expert level yet, but the wonderful feeling of being able to play for others and myself is indescribable.

With methods of teaching piano being as they are today I would say it really is possible to teach an old dog - well a 'latter youth' dog please - new tricks.

It’s become commonplace to see people alone in cars actively having a conversation. Cell phones have gone from being a luxury for the rich, to a necessity for all. Even kids in middle school are using cell phones to call parents when its time to be picked up from the mall.

With all the cell phone usage out there, comes the opportunity to accessorize. Many cell phone providers offer special ringtones, wallpaper and games for an additional fee. But there are other sites that offer more extended versions of all these things and more. Thumbplay is a popular provider of extended cell phone services. Thumbplay offers musical ringtones in almost 50 genres such as hip hop, hard rock, dance, indie, smooth R&B, all the classics and even college fight songs. Thumbplay also touts amazing 24/7 customer service to its subscribers. This is extremely helpful to those that might be out late and having trouble with their wallpaper or ringtone.

New members receive 10 bonus downloads for free. The pricing information is a bit difficult to find beyond that, but each download appears to be worth one credit.
